Bemerkung:   Michelangelo Fuortes was an Italian neurophysiologist. He worked in Turin and Cambridge, before moving to the USA in the 1950s. At the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, he worked with Karl Frank on presynaptic inhibition, a work resulting in a pioneering 1957 article.  The correspondence is mostly about Eccles' reprints.  24.11.48 Upon sending reprints, Eccles remerks: "You will find that the excitation and inhibition theories are a little altered in the most recent publications from here (J. neurophys July and September 1948)"
